Fred e Barney, andando no possante, na Idade da Pedra
O que devia faltar, sobrou. Criado com o intuito de reduzir a dependência dos automóveis, responsáveis por grande parte da emissão de CO2, e estimular o uso de formas alternativas de locomoção, o Dia Mundial Sem Carro (DMSC), celebrado ontem, contou com uma participação tímida na maioria das cidades que aderiram à causa. Foi assim nas maiores e mais conhecidas cidades brasileiras e em grandes centros mundiais como Nova York, Paris, Roma, Berlim, Madri e Londres.
Decidida a não repetir o erro do ano passado, quando bloqueios aumentaram o trânsito, a prefeitura de Curitiba (PR) aproveitou a data para simular uma ciclofaixa que deve ser implantada em breve. Já a de Porto Alegre (RS) lançou o projeto “Carona Legal”, voltado para empresas e organizações. Ciclistas porto-alegrenses distribuíram panfletos aos motoristas incentivando o uso de bicicletas mas, por conta da chuva e da falta de confiança no transporte público, houve pouco envolvimento do resto da população.
O trânsito complicou logo pela manhã em Florianópolis, Santa Catarina, por conta da greve de funcionários de uma empresa de transporte e Salvador também enfrentou um grande fluxo de veículos. A rotina não mudou em Volta Redonda (RJ), um município de 102 mil carros e 261 mil habitantes, o que equivale a uma taxa de 1 carro para cada 2,5 habitantes. Em Recife, o tráfego foi o de sempre, enquanto em São Paulo os quilômetros de engarrafamentos, apesar de ainda imensos, às 19h havia se reduzido da média de 146 km para 112 km.
No Rio de Janeiro, apesar da lentidão em alguns trechos, deu resultado. O corte foi de 105 mil viagens de automóvel, estima a CET-Rio (Coordenadoria de Engenharia e Trânsito). No Centro e na Zona Sul, a quantidade de monóxido de carbono foi reduzida em 70%. A prefeitura bloqueou 2 mil vagas e, para se fazer respeitar, rebocou 78 veículos e multou 330.
Políticos também mostraram seu apoio ao Dia Mundial Sem Carro.O prefeito do Rio foi para o trabalho de bicicleta, excelente pedida, pois esse meio não poluente e é cada vez mais valorizado. Em São Paulo, o prefeito usou ônibus e metrô, uma boa oportunidade para experimentar as mesmas dificuldades do cidadão comum. Em Brasília, as mazelas do transporte público prejudicaram o Dia Mundial Sem Carro.
Brasília e Belém foram palco de protestos. A Associação dos Ciclistas Urbanos de São Paulo ofereceu café da manhã, na região da Avenida Paulista, para aqueles que decidiram pedalar até o trabalho. Dezenas de pessoas ocuparam parte da Rua Padre João Manuel criando Vagas-Vivas, mas teve até quem as atropelasse. E, ao fim do dia, bicicletadas foram realizadas em diferentes pontos do país.
Esse relato do DMSC foi escrito de Londrina, Paraná, onde o evento foi … um não evento. A cidade tem 265 mil veículos para 511 mil habitantes, ou cerca de um carro para 1,9 habitantes – um relação ainda mais alta do que a de Volta Redonda, outra cidade de porte médio citada acima. Segundo a assessoria de imprensa da Companhia Municipal de Transporte Urbano de Londrina, a única atividade realizada no 22 de setembro foi uma blitz educativa, que visava convencer os motoristas sobre a importância de se respeitar a faixa de pedestres. Sem comentários.
